Korean Giant is an Asian Pear that does very well here in Iowa. It’s a large pear with olive green russet skin when ripe. It’s a cold hardy tree that shows great disease resistance. It occasionally gets visited by coddling moth but some moth traps will take care of that issue. Overall, it’s a very low maintenance fruit tree to grow.
It’s very crunchy, consistently sweet and has a lot of juice. It’s one of the most consistent Asian pears that you can grow. It also stores for months in the fridge without losing its texture or flavor. Just an excellent pear for the home orchard.
Ripens early to mid-September in southwest Iowa.
