Introduced by C.G. Patten of Charles City, Iowa. The Iowa Beauty apple is said to be firm with yellowish flesh, very juicy, very sweet, and tangy.
We're growing this variety on the cold hardy and standard sized Antonovka rootstock. It's yet to fruit so we can't confirm the characteristics. It does seem to be precocious as it flowered this year, in only it's 2nd year in the ground. We won't allow it to fruit yet, however, so we can establish a good tree structure first.
